Love Story From 11-11-11

This is a story about a couple who met over the internet.  It seems like meeting online has become more of a standard, popular way to meet one another these days.  It's becoming more mainstream and acceptable.  That is fine with me.  Hey, if you are happy and have a lot in common and similar tastes and interests, why not ?  Who am I to judge?  A lot of people meet and a variety of unusual ways right?

Love Story on 11-11-11

  Joel and April's Love Story

Joel and April met playing an internet game in December of 2004.  I won't say what the game was.
It doesn't matter.  They fell in love. That is all that matters. Like many couples, one of the partners has
children.  It so  happens that the boys (Tyler and Corey)  took a shining to Joel.  They had also
participated in playing games on the internet together with Joel for many years.  This love relationship
carried on for quite some time long distance before they decided to tie the knot.  But they spent the
last two of the years living closer and getting to know one another deeply and of course fell more
   deeply in love.

A Lovely Tahitian Beach Ceremony in Las Vegas?

Joel and April decided to accept the input of this young boy and Joel agreed to wear a top hat and
cane and make it a fun wedding on a lucky and meaningful day to them, 11-11-11.  They decided to
have their ceremony on the beach at Tahiti Village at night, with the shining background water. Let me
just say the water was not feeling so tropical in November but it was a stunning backdrop for their
event but all 30 of their guests enjoyed it immensely.

The Ceremony

Joel and April decided to choose to have a civil ceremony but they combined two of my most popular choices together to customize it and make it special and to express their own ideas about their love.  I must say they were very happy and enjoyed the moment and their family and friends immensely.  I too enjoyed performing the ceremony for Joel and April and meeting them and their family. Thank you both for allowing me to be a part of your special day!

Sincerely,
Rev. Julie Nourish

Wedding Customs - Changes Over Time

Many wedding customs have experienced ongoing changes over time.  Many traditions and customs for a standard wedding, although they still remain an important part of society, have dramatically changed during the last fifty years and are bound to continue to change in future as well. Whether it is location of the ceremony, reception or attire for bride, there has been remarkable changes that have occurred. Many would comment the changes that have taken place in weddings over the years are positive ones.

The very first thing that all of us must have noticed is that the general acceptance of having a ceremony in a less traditional setting has changed. In the past,  for example, people would as a standard choose a church for their wedding.  The church service would be followed by a small reception for all friends and family members.  Today of course it is not mandatory to have a ceremony in a church and many couples prefer not to for various reasons. In ages past, parents and other family members of the couple used to make most all of the wedding arrangements and pay for it.  As a standard only clergy from their local church, synagogue or place of worship would marry wedding couples. But due to the changes in faith and outlook regarding religious belief, people are choosing other means of tying the knot.

Due to these changes, it has become more accepted to have the ceremony at a location other than a church and hire a wedding minister or other official who is licensed to marry in their state. For instance, now there are many ministers who travel and perform on location weddings.  This also includes civil commissioners, judges and Rabbi's who are willing to travel to reception halls and venues that stray away from the traditions of the past. This is a welcoming change to many couples who do not have a church or affiliate with one particular denominational faith.

Wedding Receptions

Traditionally receptions were to be held at the church where the wedding took place. People now choose lavish hotels, banquets and even beaches as the reception venue, so that they can have fun and do all the dancing at the same venue that the ceremony took place at. First, the ceremony is completed and after a short break of an hour or so for pictures with family and friends, they start the reception. This allows couples the option of having the ceremony and the reception all in one venue. These choices also allow for the best of decor, music and other wedding elements to accommodate guests and ceremony and make it easier for the guests so that they don't have to travel from a church to a reception hall after the ceremony.

Bridal Wear

Another significant change can be seen in the bridal wear for weddings. Gone are the days when brides used to wear only white gowns. As the years have passed trends for bridal dress styles have transitioned greatly.  Where a white bridal dress was considered a standard of the past in a wedding, now there are a lot of options available. Right from the pastel shades to bright hues of blue, brides are liberally choosing their favorite colors for this big day. As the meaning of colors has changed, so does their usage. The importance of bridal veil has also transitioned in these modern times. Traditionally, the veil has been used on the wedding day as a standard.  The use of the veil is still popular however some brides wear it and others choose not to. The original color of veil was also white, but now these are also of matching colors with the gown.

Gender Roles

The traditional gender roles of the wedding bridal party attendants have changed as well. For instance the role that the attendants play has changed. Bridal couples no longer choose their bridal party according to their gender. In fact, they go for somebody who understands them well and feel that will really suit best to this role. A lady can choose a male who happens to be her best friend, a male cousin or brother and a man can choose likewise.  So, there are no gender constraints and the bride and groom are free to choose anyone they want to.

Wedding Traditions Have Changed Over The Years

These are just a few of the wedding traditions that have changed greatly over the years.  Certainly as time progresses we will see more changes as our cultures change.  However, I think the tradition of the marriage ceremony, reception, wedding attire and long cherished customs will continue on.  No doubt wedding traditions will certainly keep changing and adapting to modern societal influences.

Wedding Planning Packages

Wedding Planning Advice – Las Vegas:

Getting married in Las Vegas is a thrilling experience but it can also be an uncertain endeavor for many brides planning a destination wedding to Las Vegas. Typically a lot of effort has to be taken to make any wedding an elegant, glamorous and unique event.

Las Vegas has a lot of wedding choices and options available. Ask any bride or groom that has spent hours surfing the internet to find a package that works for them. Even the most even keeled person can feel like pulling their hair out in the end. I know It’s true.  I have had many a customer call me and tell me they have given up and need help. From the simple to elaborate choices knowing what is essential to planning a wedding here can be challenging, especially for foreigners or those planning a destination wedding. Foreigner especially are at a disadvantage not knowing our country let alone the Las Vegas wedding essentials.

Many wedding planning establishments here claim the status of wedding planner.  You do need wedding planning for any type of wedding right? Without planning a wedding would be chaotic. That is simple logic. Many establishments in Las Vegas have pre-arranged wedding packages which run like clockwork and have a set plan to carry out the orchestration. That is one of the allures for many people thinking of planning their wedding in Las Vegas.

One thing is certain though. You will still need wedding planning to help you pull together your special day and have it done well. You will need to be able to trust the person who you end up choosing to not mess up your special day. After all, a wedding is an experience which everyone wants to remember and cherish through out their life.

Establishing Trust:

So, how do you know you can trust someone to plan your wedding for you, especially if you are planning a destination wedding from far away? One way you can vet the wedding planner is to look for reputable impartial reviews from former clients. Go online and do a search to find out what former clients have to say. See what their credentials are. How many years have they been involved with wedding planning?

Make A List:

Before you delve into planning your wedding, ask yourself exactly what services you need and write it down in a list. A good wedding planner will provide you a list and ask you to write down a detailed set of requirements you have. This allows you to think it through thoroughly and not miss an important element.

Establish a Clear Budget

You will definitely want to establish a wedding planning budget. Then find a planner who will offer you ways and ideas to trim things to meet your budget. A good wedding planner will be able to offer a lot of ideas to fit your budget. One thing is certain. They should be honest with you about your expectations and what you can expect with the budget you have. One planner I know is fond of saying “It’s not realistic to have champagne taste on a beer budget”. A good wedding planner will look in to every minute detail of the planning the wedding and make sure pay attention to detail from start to finish.

Conclusion

A quality wedding planner you can develop trust in will help you be able to relax and enjoy the most incredible day of your life. In the end the goal is for you and your new spouse to be happy and satisfied. It also helps if everyone who was a part of your wedding will speak highly of their experience and those who were part of the planning for years to come.
